Children’s Centre Activities
Monday 10.00 – 12.00 The Baby Cafe (at the YPOD, Woking)
A drop-in centre for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their families. Friendly relaxed cafe atmosphere with expert help and support always on hand located at The YPOD Centre, Chobham Road, Woking, Surrey GU21 6JD (closed on bank holidays).
Tuesday 9.00 – 10.30 Family Drop-in
A NEW opportunity to come in and see us at the Chldren’s Centre, for advice & information on areas such as child development, parenting, job advice, training opportunities, nurseries, preschools, childminders, FEET funding, getting ready for school and healthy lifestyles in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Chill and chat while your children play.
Tuesday 10.00 – 11.45 Well Baby Clinic
At St John’s Health Centre. An opportunity to meet our staff and find out about the services and support available from your children’s centre, while you wait to see a Health Visitor and have your baby weighed.
Tuesday 1.00 – 2.15 Bumps & Babies
A NEW weekly group for parents with young babies (pre-walkers) living in our Children’s Centre reach area. A chance to chill and chat with other parents and pick up some hints and tips to support your baby’s development. Come along and receive your free Baby Bookstart Pack. (Unfortunately, this session is not open to childminders or nannies).
Wednesday 10.00 – 11.00 Active Tots
Active Tots is a unique mix of stories, play, active games and exercise for parents with children 18 months-5 years. (Unfortunately, this session is not open to childminders or nannies). There will be a charge of £2 per child for this activity.
Wednesday 1.30 – 3.30 Introducing Family Foods Workshop/Sleep Clinics
Delivered by our local Health team. Contact your Health Visitor to book an an appointment on 01483 728201.
Thursday 9.00 – 10.30 Family Drop-in

Thursday 10.45 – 12.15 First Time Mums
A rolling 6 week programme for new mums – midwife led – amongst other things – motherhood, relationships, parenting styles, feelings and self esteem. Booking is required but you can join at any time. Call 01483 476450.
Thursday 12.45 – 2.00 Little Learners
Our regular weekly play & learn session for parents with children 0-5 years living in the local community. Activities provided are planned according to the Early Years Foundation Stage to support your child’s development. (Unfortunately, this session is not open to childminders or nannies).
Thursday 1.00 – 3.15 Development checks

Friday 12.00 – 1.30 Young Parents Group at the YPOD, Woking
(term time only)
A group for parents 23 years and under with children 0-5. Lunch is provided and travel expenses are paid. An outreach worker from St John’s will be attending this group on alternate Fridays.
Friday 12.45 – 2.45 Parenting Puzzle
Parenting is one of the most challenging, demanding jobs there is. It can also be the most rewarding – though it doesn’t always feel like that. This FREE 10-week programme can help to make the job easier, more fun and more survivable when the going gets tough. Please call in to the Children’s Centre to book a place. Creche available.
Saturday 10.00 – 11.30 Forest School
Held on the first Saturday of every month. A fun Saturday morning session for parents with children 2-5 years. Forest schools offer an excellent opportunity for play and exploration, the chance for children to really develop their imagination and creativity. This session is outdoors whatever the weather so please come appropriately dressed.
Saturday 10.00 – 3.00 Family First Aid
A family first aid course provided by a qualified First Aider which includes instruction and training on how to deal with cuts, bruises and grazes, when to dial 111 and 999, how to put someone in the recovery position and how to apply resuscitation. Adults only. Please call in to the Children’s Centre to book a place and enrol.

- We support the Baby Cafe at the YPOD where pregnant and breastfeeding Mums can get advice from health professionals
