Children’s Centre Activities
Monday 10.00 – 12.00 The Baby Cafe (at the YPOD, Woking)
A drop-in centre for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their families. Friendly relaxed cafe atmosphere with expert help and support always on hand located at The YPOD Centre, Chobham Road, Woking, Surrey GU21 6JD (closed on bank holidays).
Tuesday 9.00 – 10.30 Family Drop-in
A NEW opportunity to come in and see us at the Chldren’s Centre, for advice & information on areas such as child development, parenting, job advice, training opportunities, nurseries, preschools, childminders, FEET funding, getting ready for school and healthy lifestyles in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Tuesday 10.00 – 11.45 Well Baby Clinic (Held on 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month) At St John’s Health Centre.
An opportunity to meet our staff and find out about the services and support available from your Children’s Centre, while you wait to see a Health Visitor and have your baby weighed. Our Outreach Worker Lucie will be available for information and advice.
Tuesday 1.00 – 2.15 Bumps & Babies
A weekly group for parents with young babies (pre-walkers) living in our Children’s Centre reach area. A chance to chill and chat with other parents and pick up some hints and tips to support your baby’s development from our Outreach Worker Lucie who is Level 3 Breastfeeding trained. Come along and receive your free Baby Bookstart Pack. (Unfortunately, this session is not open to childminders or nannies).
Wednesday 10.00 – 11.15 Play and Learn
Our regular weekly play & learn session in the school hall for parents with children 0-5 years living in the local community. Activities provided are planned according to the Early Years Foundation Stage to support your child’s development. (Unfortunately, this session is not open to childminders or nannies).
Wednesday 12.45 – 1.45 Bookstart Programme
A 3 week programme suitable for parents with children 18 -36 months. Delivered in the centre by our Outreach Workers, this programme will help your child develop a love of books and reading. Booking is required.
Wednesday 1.30 – 3.30 Introducing Family Foods Workshop
Delivered by our local Health team. Contact your Health Visitor to book an an appointment on 01483 794884.
Thursday 9.00 – 10.30 Family Drop-in

Thursday 10.45 – 12.15 First Time Mums
A rolling 6 week programme for new mums which is midwife led. Topics covered amongst other things include – motherhood, relationships, parenting styles, feelings and self esteem. Booking is required but you can join at any time. Call 01483 476450. There will be a charge of £12 for the whole programme.
Thursday 1.00 – 3.30 Development checks
These checks are facilitated by our local Health Team and are invitation only. Please contact your Health Visitor on 01483 794884 for more information.
Friday 12.00 – 1.30 Young Parents Group at the YPOD, Woking
(term time only)
A group for parents 23 years and under with children 0-5. Lunch is provided and travel expenses are paid. An outreach worker from St John’s will be attending this group on various dates.
Family Forest School
A fun morning session for parents with children 2-5 years. Forest schools offer an excellent opportunity for play and exploration, the chance for children to really develop their imagination and creativity. This session is outdoors whatever the weather so please come appropriately dressed.
Parenting is one of the most challenging, demanding jobs there is. It can also be the most rewarding – though it doesn’t always feel like that. This FREE 10-week programme can help to make the job easier, more fun and more survivable when the going gets tough. Please call in to the Children’s Centre to book a place. Creche available.
Family First Aid
A family first aid course provided by a qualified First Aider which includes instruction and training on how to deal with cuts, bruises and grazes, when to dial 111 and 999, how to put someone in the recovery position and how to apply resuscitation. Adults only. Please call in to the Children’s Centre to book a place and enrol.

- HENRY programme – an 8 week course designed to give parents and carers of children up to the age of 5yrs the tools and skills they need to provide a healthy family lifestyle
