Family Support and Outreach
The Children’s Centre team are here to offer confidential family support with a variety of issues, including support with a new baby, feeding support, understanding your child, nursery places as well as support with 2yr old funding and 3yr old funding, ideas for play, and transition into school.
Sometimes dedicated support is needed to help your family. This is part of the role of our outreach workers, who offer home visits and one-to-one sessions at the Centre. We are also able to offer weekly drop-in sessions available at the Children’s Centre, along with information and advice to support family life.
These are opportunities for you to tell us of any challenges you and your family may be facing, and to let us help and support you to find a way through. There are many ways we can do this – by encouraging you to get specialist help if needed, referring you to the right people who can help you create a happy, secure family life. We will work with you to give your children the best possible start and to give you the support that you need.
We have an Outreach Worker available every day at the Centre and they are also present in most of our sessions and groups. If you would like to speak to an outreach worker at any other time, you can request this by speaking to Carol, our Information and Advice Officer.
This is offered as a 10 week course and delivered at the Centre. It offers practical and positive support to parents in order to help them give their children the best start in life. Various topics are covered including parenting skills, eating, physical activity and emotional well-being. As well as being great for developing skills and knowledge about children, it is also a fabulous way to meet other parents, create friendships and boost confidence. Please contact the Centre for details of the next course.
