Year 1 Goings On
Year One had a ‘Balanceability’ course in January. They learned the key skills for bike riding all in our school hall! What fun! They balanced in different ways, learned to glide on the bicycles and many of them proudly pedalled their way through the cones and obstacles. A great learning experience for everyone!
Place Value to 10
This half- term we have worked very hard at securing our understanding of numbers to 10. It sounds easy, but many of our problem solving activities were extremely challenging. While learning to compare and order numbers we also developed our mathematical vocabulary and learnt words such as: least, fewer, greater than, less than and equal to.
Little Red riding Hood
Year 1 has used the traditional story, Little Red Riding Hood, to help understand characters, settings and structure. We listened to the story, acted it out and ate the delicious cupcakes from Little Red Riding Hood’s basket. During lessons we practised re-telling the story using puppets and following a story map. Our own versions of the story were very exciting, with titles such as Little Rainbow Hood, Little Grey Explorer and Little Blue Riding Hood.
