Year 4 Goings On
Year Four visited Tuesley Farm where we learnt how fruit is grown, picked and packed ready for the supermarkets. The packing shed was really cold and we learnt how the temperature is controlled to preserve the strawberries. We went into the fields to learn how to pick strawberries, raspberries and blueberries correctly. It was an amazing day and the fruit was delicious!
Childhood Through History
We have started a topic about childhood through history. At the start of the topic we have created Lego models of anything that is important to us. Some of us made our teddy bears, others of us made our families or our favourite toys. We worked really hard together to share the Lego and work out how to build different objects.
During Maths and Sports Week, we went outside to create shapes!
Year four have been taking part in a poetry study of John Agard poems. We spent time looking at the illustrations of his poems in an art gallery. It was interesting to think of all the different ideas we had from the illustrations before trying to create some of our own.
Learning the Violin
Year four have been learning the violins since September. We have been working hard on playing in time, listening to one another, reading music and playing a rhythm. Some of our favourite pieces have been Down Up and Airport. We are really excited about learning to play with our fingers as well as the bow.
We had an amazing morning at the Lightbox where we learnt about the sculptor Anthony Caro and his work called Redoubt. During the morning we looked at paintings as well as some of the sculptures; we are really looking forward to creating our own sculptures back at school.
